OneCommunity Reads, UnaComunidad Leyendo!
OneCommunity Reads, UnaComunidad Leyendo! is a local partnership that engages parents and their children to read at grade level and become active leaders in Springdale, Arkansas—a community with a growing Latino and Marshallese population.
Parents Taking Leadership Action
The goal of PTLA is to strengthen parent-school communication, increase educational awareness, and enhance the parental leadership of newcomers. The PTLA initiative complements the Springdale School District’s existing Family Literacy Program, which allows parents to invest up to ten hours a week in their children’s school learning English, spend time in their child’s classroom, and learn about community resources. We have served 140 families in Parents Taking Leadership Action (PTLA) at George and Jones, Monitor, Elmdale, Bayyari and Parson Hills Elementary schools.

ArkanSalsa
ArkanSalsa Fest is an eclectic art and music festival to raise money for scholarships and to inspire community leaders. The festival celebrates the rich diversity of Northwest Arkansas by bringing people together and offering them a chance to meet new amigos/friends while listening to music, dancing, eating delicious food & visiting with local nonprofit organizations and businesses that benefit us all in our area.
In 2017, one student studying at NWACC was awarded a scholarship during ArkanSalsa Fest.
